Imagineindia Filmfest honors ‘Appendix’, ‘Orange Days’

The 18th Imagineindia Film Festival (IFF) in Spain has honored two Iran titles.

The 18th edition of the Imagineindia Film Festival (IFF) in Spain has honored two Iran titles.

The praised titles include Iranian feature ‘Appendix’ by Hossein Namazi which grabbed award for best script, while the flick’s stars Reza Akbarpour and Amir-Ali Danaee won special mentions of the film event.

‘Appendix’ is about Zari who goes to the hospital with her husband where she is diagnosed with appendicitis. Using her friend’s insurance ID because hers has expired, Zari undergoes an appendectomy but the staff at the hospital become suspicious of her identity, miring the couple in a struggle with many unfortunate events.

Imagineindia did not stop there as it lauded Hediyeh Tehrani with a special mention award for her role in Arash Lahouti’s ‘Orange Days’.

‘Orange Days’ narrates the story of Aban, the only female contractor in the cutthroat and male-dominated orange harvesting industry, who enters a competition to win a large contract. Her efforts remain futile while anyone involved in her story tries to fail her.

Arman Fayyaz’s short drama ‘Manicure’ from Iran was also among the official selections of the festival with no chance in award category.

Imagineindia Film Festival aims to showcase and focus attention on films coming mainly from India, but with some concessions to the other countries of the Indian Subcontinent and rest of Asia, in order to contribute to a better comprehension of Indian Culture, and to the development of more fluid relations among nations of the Indian Subcontinent and Europe.

The Spanish capital of Madrid hosted the event on May 17-31, 2019.
